Tripura (Tirpura Assembly Election 2023): All parties announce the names of candidates for Tripura Assembly Elections. The BJP has announced its candidates for 48 out of 60 seats in Tripura. The remaining 12 candidates will be announced soon. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will compete from the Town Bordovali seat. In May 2022, the BJP high command abolished Deb Biplav and made Dr. Manik Saha as the new CM.
After becoming the Chief Minister, Manik Saha contested the by-election of the Town Bordovali seat. Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik will compete from Dhanpur. State BJP chief Rajib Bhattacharjee will enter the contest from Banmalipur. At the same time, Congress also announced the list of 17 candidates for the upcoming 2023 Tripura election on Saturday (28/1). Sudip Roy Burman will compete from Agartala.

There was an upheaval of candidate names in the BJP Central Selection Committee
The BJP has convened a BJP Central Election Committee meeting on Friday to exchange views on its candidates for the assembly elections to be held in Tripura. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and other party CEC members. Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Saha also attended the meeting. The former Chief Minister of the state of Biplab Dev will not be contesting the assembly elections this time.
Elections will be held in Tripura today
As of January 18, 2023, the Election Commission of India has announced election dates for three northeastern states. These states are Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya. Elections will be held in the state in two phases. Voting will be held in Tripura on 16 February 2023. At the same time, voting will be held simultaneously in Nagaland and Meghalaya on 27 February. Vote counting in all three states will take place on March 2, 2023.
