The United States fears that China may supply Russia with lethal weapons

The United States fears that China is reportedly considering supplying Russia with lethal weapons. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said this in an interview with NBC, part of which aired on Sunday.

According to Blinken, in a conversation with Chinese State Councilor and Director of the CCP Central Foreign Affairs Office, Wang Ye, he ‘had the opportunity to share our (US) very real concerns about China’s support for Russia. The US Secretary of State said, ‘What we have seen over the last few years is that China’s support for Russia must be some political and rhetorical, and even some non-lethal weapons support. But we are very concerned that China is considering supporting Russia with lethal weapons.’

He said that providing Russia with ‘lethal weapons support’ would have ‘serious consequences (for Beijing) in our (China-US) relationship’. He also said it was something that ‘President (Joe) Biden has mentioned on a number of occasions with (Chinese) President Xi (Jinping)’.

In late January, John Kirby, the US National Security Council’s strategic communications coordinator, said the US had urged China not to support Russia’s special military operations in Ukraine. According to him, Washington expressed its intention to take action against those companies, including Chinese companies that violate US sanctions against Moscow. Source: Tas.
