The body of Lebanon’s top cleric Sheikh Ahmed al-Rifai was recovered on Saturday after a week of his disappearance from the Libyan capital, Tripoli.
Al-Rifai’s death is being mourned in the northern Lebanese city of Karkaf, where he was born. News of Arab News.
He was the Imam of Al-Karkaf Mosque. A large number of troops were deployed to prevent any untoward incident during his funeral on Saturday.
Sheikh Ahmed Al-Rifai was known as a harsh critic of Iran and Hezbollah.
