About Rajiv, director Kazi Hayat told The Daily Star, ‘Rajiv was unique as an actor and a politician. He acted as the first hero in the movie “Khokon Sona” directed by me. Earlier, he acted in a small role in the movie “Rakhe Allah Mare Ke”.
Kazi Hayat said that Elias Kanchan was supposed to act as the hero in ‘Khokon Sona’. He said, ‘I took him as a hero on Rajeev’s request after meeting me. He was very strong as an actor. He was very naive as a person. Rajeev’s impeccable performance in many films directed by me will be remembered by the audience for a long time.’
After acting in Kazi Hayat’s ‘Khokon Sona’ in 1982, Rajeev acted in more than 200 films. His notable films include ‘Danga’, ‘Shark River Grenade’, ‘Prem Piyasi’, ‘Truth Never Dies’, ‘Dream World’, ‘Today’s Terrorist’, ‘Durjoy’, ‘Denmohar’, ‘Dream Address’, ‘Mahamilan’, ‘Father’s Order’, ‘Protest’, ‘Dawn’, ‘Doomsday to Doomsday’, ‘Rice Give’, ‘Eternal Love’, ‘Fire in the Chest’ and ‘Courageous Man Wanted’.
Outside of acting, Rajeev was the Managing Director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).
