Tawhid Hriday made a career in cricket after being inspired by Mushfiqur Rahim, the star cricketer of the national team.
Tawhid played the highest innings (92) for the country on debut in the first game of the three-match ODI series against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
When Mushfiqur Rahim visited Bogra after his memorable win against India in the 2007 World Cup, Tawheed Hridiya got a chance to see him up close. The incident of that day still floats in the memory of the heart.
After winning the man of the match award in Sylhet on Saturday, Hridoy said, I was very young in 2007. Mushfiq Bhai got a stump in the World Cup win against India. I was inspired by Mushfiq Bhai’s stump in a program. Since then he started dreaming of playing in the national team.
On March 9, Tawhid Hriday made his T20 debut against England in Chittagong. He made his debut in the ODI team in the Ireland series due to his brilliant performance in limited overs cricket.
He made a record on his debut. Hridoy played the highest innings of 92 runs as a debutant cricketer for the country.
Mushfiqur made a great partnership of 80 runs from 49 balls with Rahim on the way to build an innings of 92 runs in 85 balls with 8 fours and two sixes. After that, he made a partnership of 135 runs off 125 balls with Shakib Al Hasan.
Hridoy said about his innings, I have tried to play according to the quality of every ball since I came into bat. It’s good to play with Shakib bhai because he is very experienced. I was learning a lot while batting with Shakib Bhai. He was also saying that it would be better to do it this way. I enjoyed it a lot.
Tawhid Hriday also said, when I felt I needed to know something, I asked what the brother should do. Shakib Bhai said, ‘I can do it that way.’ Also always saying, ‘Well done, hold on. Extend the innings as long as possible.
