After losing the toss and batting, India were bowled out for 117 runs in 26 overs by Starc. This is India’s highest score in an ODI against Australia at home. After that, Australia won in 11 overs with two openers, Head and Marsh. Head scored 51* off 30 balls and Marsh scored 66* off 36 balls. Marsh took 60 runs in four sixes with equal six!
Australia won the series 1-1 with 39 overs in hand. This is India’s biggest loss in ODI history in terms of balls remaining. Stark is the mastermind of embarrassing India like this. The hosts lost five wickets for 49 runs at the start of the match.
Apart from Virat Kohli’s 31 and Akshar Battle’s 29*, no one else has runs to speak of. Starc took five wickets, Shaun Abbott three and Nathan Ellis two. This is Starc’s ninth five-wicket haul in ODIs. Only Waqar Younis (13) and Muttiah Muralitharan (10) have more five-wicket hauls than him in this edition.
The series will be decided in the third and final match in Chennai on Wednesday.
