Friendship festival was celebrated in Tripura to maintain good relations between India and Bangladesh. Center for Bangladesh India Relations (CBIR) organized a friendship award ceremony on Saturday (March 18).
Member of Parliament of Brahmanbaria-1 Farhad Hossain was present on the occasion. He compared the current period of relations between the two countries to the golden age.
Friendship awards were presented to various individuals, organizations and media at Rabindra Centenary Bhawan in Agartala. CBIR and Arshi Katha news media jointly organized this event.
On the occasion, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister of Tripura State Tingku Roy said that spiritual relationship has become bigger than commercial relationship. That is why people from Assam, West Bengal to Tripura state Bengali people now want to go to different international markets to buy jamdani from Dhaka.
Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh Arif Mohammad said, Bangladesh will remember India as long as it lives. He said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, even from his imprisonment in Pakistan’s jail, expressed his intention to set foot in Delhi, the capital of India, before returning home. And from that begins the bond of friendship.
Director Shahidul Hasan Khokon on behalf of CBIR Bangladesh delivered the welcome speech at the opening of the event. Cultural programs are also held after this preliminary phase.
