A woman was seriously injured after jumping into the swimming pool to escape from the fire in a multi-storied building at Gulshan-2 in the capital. The woman named Sama Rahman Sinha (38) has been admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Sama Rahman Sinha is the wife of Cricket Board Director Faim Sinha. They are residents of the 12th floor of that building.
He was admitted to the burn institute around 12:30 pm on Sunday.
Coordinator of Burn Institute Dr. Samanta Lal Sen confirmed this. He said, we cannot call anyone safe. This patient developed inhalation burns. Apart from this, his body has different types of injuries in different places besides burns due to falling from above. We kept him in ICU. He is currently undergoing treatment there.
Samanta Lal Sen said that a medical board will be constituted for his treatment on Monday.
According to the relatives who came to the hospital, Sama Rahman Sinha dropped his family members in the lift. The maid and he later boarded the elevator. The elevator stops at the 7th floor. In that situation, he broke the glass door of the elevator and went out to the seventh floor. There the fire spread to the back of his body. Later he went to the balcony and jumped down into the swimming pool.
A fire broke out on the 11th floor of the 14-storey building of 2/A Holding on Road No. 104 of Gulshan-2 in the capital. One death has been reported so far in this fire incident.
